CV Boot Replacement 850 1994

I'm wondering if it is possble to replace the passanger side outer CV boot without removing the half shaft from the transmission. I have the half shaft disconnected from the hub/spindle but it looks like it is difficult to get the half shaft out of the tramsmission.
