What does ASR mean?

My wife and I are currently looking at a 2001 V70 ASR wagon with 34K miles – asking price is $17,900. The vehicle is in outstanding condition; fully loaded with Nordic package, fold out booster seats in second row and a third seat. We are in the Portland, OR area.

Does anyone have any info on reliability of this model? Also, what does ASR stand for and where does it fall on the scale of horsepower for the V70 models?

We currently own a 1995 850 Turbo wagon since new with 131K. We love it and have had very minimal problems. However, I am not familiar with the V70’s.

Any input is appreciated! Thanks.
