Clutch slave cylinder 850 1995

I've been driving the mother-in-laws 855 GLT for a while and I've been under the hood a bit and I noticed what appears to be a vacuum port on the clutch slave cylinder which, of course, has been disconnected. The clutch was replaced about two years ago by the dealer and has never had problems engaging & disengaging. I'm wondering why that port is there and if it were connected would it improve my overall driving experience? Has anybody seen the same?
