Help Diagnose bad starter vs. ignition switch 850 1996

All,

My starter is "running on" when starting the car on colder days. The car is a '96 850 wagon non-turbo.

I understand problem is either the soleniod on the starter not disenaging or the ignition switch not pulling the voltage after the key is released from the start position.

My question is, what is the best way to diagnose which is the problem? I could try using a current test light on the soleniod contacts but I think that you would have to remove a lot of components to get to the starter, including the battery which of course would make it a pain to test at that point.

Is there a better way to verify a bad ignition switch without taking too much of the car apart?
