Chime wont quit- Help 850

We had the same problem with our 95 854 GLT. Although we never got a chance to repair it because the car was totaled shortly afterwards, we were told that there is a sensor or switch in the front door latch mechanisms. The left front door switch both activated the left front interior courtesy lights and the reminder chime that the key is still in the ignition switch. We did find that occassionally, if we slammed the door shut, the chime stopped. However, it wasn't uncommon for the chime to begin again while driving.

Perhaps someone knows if replacing that switch will help or is it a matter of aligning the switch so that it makes full contact with the door latch mechanism.
