Should I walk away? 850 1996

For the asking price, if the car is local I would probably go for it. I would call the local Volvo shop with the VIN to see if they have any service records.... As posted earlier the ABS is no big deal, the evaporator is about $1,000 to fix, but that would put you in the $4,500 range which is still slightly less that what the car is worth if everything works.

Might want to also consider if you like doing your own maintenance. If you plan to pay someone else to do all maintenance, Volvos can be expensive to operate. On the other hand though, if you do most of your own oil changes and such, the 850 series can be great cars (especially if it is turbo).

Good luck...

Oliver
