Chime wont quit- Help 850

Same problem with my 97 GLT wagon, shortly after I replaced an overhead lightbulb by the rearview mirror. Took it in to the Volvo garage, chiming all the way. The service manager promptly informed me it was the sensor in the door, how they frequently went to h--l, that it would cost me around 300 to have it replaced. Like, had to take the whole door off, almost. Drove home feeling depressed. Pulled out my 850 manual and studied it. Took a while before I noticed that the chime circuit was on the same circuit as the glove box light. And the overhead lights. Checked glove box. Light out. Looked up at overhead light. When I replaced the bulb it too burned out, almost instantly. I didn't have another one, so I postponed that job. I checked the fuse for that circuit and sure enough, it was burned. I pulled off the overhead lens cover and looked at the bulb I had shoved in the socket. Looked a little too far in. Which in fact it was. The side of the bulb grounded with the hot end and the ground and so had shorted the circuit. I replaced the fuse for that circuit. Door chime stopped ringing. And that's also when I stopped taking my Volvo into that particular Volvo dealer for anything. Dick
