M56L Third-gear 850 1993

OK. I bought a '93 850 with 180K mi. that had a third-gear synchro issue, it would crunch every time I put it into third. So I got another trans with (supposedly) 30K mi. on it and spent a few days putting it in. The new one does the SAME FREAKIN' THING! But not as bad. This one I can at least get into third without the crunch, where as the other one would crunch every time.
Now that it's too late, it there any adjustment for that transaxel that I'm missing? Something that might be causing the selector to shift goofy and cause it to crunch? This is really driving me nuts and I was about to cry after I first drove it again and it crunched. It doesn't do it in any other gear. It won't crunch if I gently shift into third. I'm at wits end here and I want to cover all bases before I call the yard I got the trans from and start yelling at them.
