I forgot to ask - can I put thwm just on the fronts, or do I need all 4? (FWD)

Same with snow tires - can I put them on the front only or will that cause steering issues?

Yikes the xcountry drive is long and ok in summer, but I am a bit apprehensive about driving the I-80 from Michigan to California in January... where will it be the worst?
