Hot air entering cabin-recirc not working-Air-con switching on/off 850

Hi ya all,
Two questions regarding Air con.
Can someone tell me if this is a common problem in these 850's or a problem I need to work out.
I'm in Australia and we've just experienced 42C the other day. After turning on the Air-con I noticed the higher the fan speed the more noticeable the problem became, which was the air-con compressor was turning on and off as if the thermostat had reached some temp but inside the car it was still hot and hot air was blowing in.And because I had repaired the recirc mechanism in the past I thought I wouldn't feel outside air entering while travelling -obviously its either broken again or the seal for the recirc door isn't good enough -does any one else have this problem as well? or do you know what the causes might be and to fix it for good?

My guess is that the thermostat is playing up with the aircon-but I don't know where it might be!
or what the job may entail. If there's someone out there that has had any experience in this fault I'm grateful for your feed back.
