Planned Obsolesence 850

The technology to make a light bulb that lasts 20 years has been around since the 60's..but who would want to produce them?? Think about it...if you are in the lightbulb business, you want to sell bulbs. If people only had to buy one every 20 years there would be no viable way to stay in business.

Most products are designed to fail at some point, and some companies are making products that are consumed faster and are less reliable.

Car makers learned long ago that if someone can keep a car for 25 years, there won't be enough demand. Now they roll them out cheap and fast for the sake of future quarterly reports.

I am not defending the practice, but merely pointing out that NO corporation has Quality standards exceeding sales projections.
