ABS Service Message V70-XC70 2001

My wife owns a '01 V70 T5 that we purchased last summer with 42,000 original miles. She is now just over 50K and is now getting a message on the computer that says ABS brakes need service.
This message has just started to appear and does not come up every time that we drive the car. I am wondering if this message indicates that the dreaded ABS contol module is starting to go south?
Is it time for me to contact Victor to have the ABS module repaired?
