Brakes and Tires

Looks and sound like I need 4 tires and at least front brakes- hopefully just rotors and pads. How is the task of swapping in new rotors and pads on a 1998 v70? I've wrestled with my old 740 brake systems in the past with decent success? Would I be getting in over my head and is it something doable for the avg. guy? Any tips or tool lists needed would be much welcomed as well. Aftermarket or OEM rotors?

I'm also shopping for tires and curious which replacements people are selecting. I don't want to break the bank (pirelli) but at the same time I'd like decent ride and performance (if that helps!- oh hell let's face it I'm a cheap bastard- but I don't like it to look that way :)
