Turbo just as reliable as Non? 850

Well I posted on both this forum and the 900 forum asking about wagons. So far no real consensis on what I should be looking at, except newer is better. I did see my first 850 wagon at a local used car lot, and the size was good but a little too ratty for the price.

HOWEVER, the salesperson said that turbo's are just as reliable as the non-turbos. Which goes against my personal experience - of course which is a two decades ago. So whats the deal, if looking for a stout "extra" car should I concentrate on other things rather than weather it is a turbo or not.
