Drive shaft noises V70-XC70

I have a '98 V70R AWD with 130K miles and yesterday my wife called me at work to tell me the car was making load tinging sounds from somewhere under the drivers seat. This morning, I put the car up on ramps to take a look. I moved the tubular drive shafts ahead of and after the splined joint (center support?) and isolate the sound to the forward shaft after the transmission differential housing. When I rotated it back and forth it made a load tinging sound. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the problem might be? Would it be okay to drive the car to the repair shop or should I have a flatbed pick it up? Thanks in advance for your comments.
