850 wagon tailgate rattle driving me nuts 850 1997

the tailgate rattle on my R wagon is driving me insane. i bought the tailgate rattle repair kit from FCP Groton only to find out that my dealer had already installed an OEM repair kit. i adjusted the striker latch on the floor to see if that held the door closer. i even taped the striker points with duct tape. i am out of ideas. it is very irriatating and im at the point where i am going to get rid of the car unless the rattles stop. please advise.
