DTC P0571 V70-XC70 2002

My Auterra scan tool indicated that i had DTC P0571 meaning a "Cruise Control Brake Switch A Circuit" problem. I felt no driving problems, but since my 2002 was just barely still under factory warranty, i went to Volvo. There, indeed they found and replaced a faulty Brake pedal position sensor.
So, the non-emission DTCs read by a non-Volvo scanner can sometimes be pretty accurate in indicating the trouble area?
