What can be done to stop the vibration? V70-XC70 2000

A week ago I replaced the upper motor mount in our 2000 v70 with the ipd blue polyurethane version. Vibrations that were present and mildly annoying previously are now amplified and solidly annoying.

Realizing that it's no big surprise that the poly mount amplified the vibration, what's up with the overall vibration at idle in the first place? I also get a lot of shudder in the steering wheel at start up. Are these just artifacts of the design of the upper motor mount or is something else happening? It's not clear to me why the newer of our three volvos feels the roughest...

Are there vibration reduction success stories out there?
