ABS Module Repair

We've got a 2001 V70 T5 with 75K on it. I had the classic symptoms of an ABS Module going south: intermittent messages, ABS and STC repair needed, that would disappear after a restart and began increasing in frequency. I searched the archives here and at a couple of other forums and found references to "Victor" and this website:

http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha/Volvo_...lvo_V70_ABS.htm

I e-mailed Victor and said that I had removed my ABS module and would be glad to deliver the module to him since we're close by in Southern California. We met the next day, exchanged modules, I gave him $130, shook his hand and went home for the install.

I installed the module, reset the CEL and kept getting the same messages after hitting 12 mph. I e-mailed Victor, he replied that night that it was a common problem from not seating the electical connections properly. He was right. Module is properly installed and works like a new $400 unit for $130. I'm singing Victor's praises for offering a low cost solution for a recurrent problem on late model Volvo's.

by the way, Victor says on his website that the E5 Torx female sockets are hard to find. I went to every auto parts and tool store in a 10 mile radius and could find everything from E6 up. I found a set from E4 - E20 online for around $25 including shipping. Or, Victor will loan you one. Happy Trails.
