Spli-second hesitation during acceleration S60 2001

I have a manual transmission '01 S60 2.4 (no turbo), and had similar symptoms (hesitation/surging halfway through 2nd and 3rd after a warm start). The car is still under warranty (purchased as a certified used car). The dealer did a software download, and in response to a misfire code, installed a new cam position sensor. No ETM yet (at 76000 km/45,000 miles), and no recurrence to date (two and a half months later).

It's probably the ETM, but no codes were set pointing to it as a problem.
