headlight out again 850 1996

two years ago this last Oct, some moron hit my car, and my passenger headlight went out. It was fixed at the time, but today I notice my bulb indicator light is on and the bulb is blown again on the passenger side.

I have read thru the archives and have two questions---

1)I really would like to upgrade the bulbs with something that helps my midlife eyes see better at night. Can I buy xenon replacement bulbs (do I need two (the 9005 for high, and a 9006 for the low beam?) which won't burn anything up?

And 2)--how easy is it for me to do this myself (I am a single mom, fairly good at this stuff)--or would it be best for me to pay a shop to do this. I am thinking it makes the most sense to replace both driver's side and passenger side at the same time. (does that mean I need 4 bulbs?)

I am sorry to sound so dumb--I have yet to read my manual, just came home and goggled some info and knew you all would be the ones who would know.

thanks so much, aimee
