smoke in front of radiator V70-XC70 1998

After some particularly nasty rain and snow storms here in Massachusetts, I've been getting some smoke coming out of the front of the grill. I opened the hood and it seems to be coming from around the middle of the car, in front of the radiator. But, I could find no leaks or drips. The garage checked it out and found no leaks and all levels were fine. He suspected some water dripping onto the hot engine and causing the smoke. It seems to happen a bit after I stop and park---not at a stop light or brief stop.

Any ideas my fellow Brick Heads?

Thank you!
