What in the World is a Transmission Speed Sensor??? And is it causing my Clunking? 850 1995

Alright guys - thanks again. I'm just trying to get a feel for what the tranny speed sensor does, and also if you think it's causing my clunking/shimmying as I come to a stop (under 15mph). This is a very sporatic and rare symptom, but I don't like it at all. If anyone has had similar tranny clunking or shifts that are kind of off target - please let me know.

Also, is it possible that the Gear Position Switch is causing this? I have no idea - this is just a wild guess but I wanted to throw it out there.

David
