'coughing' hesitation between 1 &2 shifts

Hi,
Just got off the phone with my daughter who told that me that her 96 850 manual shift is hesitating between 1 & 2 shifting. This started a few days ago when it was very cold so she put some gas line antifreeze in the fuel tank & also filled the tank. It has now warmed up considerably but her car still has the same symptoms. Any ideas? She is taking in to the dealer this week but I`d like to pass along any info before she takes her car in. You know how service advisers can be with young women & perceived lack of mechanical "savvy".
Thanks!
Rich
