My mechanic has been searching for days and now says my problem must be in the engine. He says a leak down test shows leaking at exhaust valves and wants to take the head off. I am afraid--as ive heard so much about these bullet-proof engines-that we still are missing something. It was not running badly but was over due for a tune up and the engine light had come on a few weeks before it failed to start one morning. They have fixed a crack in the plastic intake tube and said we need to do EGR valve but still no luck starting. I just wonder what else we might try before cracking the head bolts. Thanks in advance H (PS-TBelt is good)(Also--have been driving it awhile with leaky RMS and am not sure crankcase pressure hasnt been excessive despite removal of flame trap--could that situation lead to valve damage?)
