Bad ECU??? 850

My Check Engine light is on and the only code I have is a "P0326 Knock sensor code" on a 96 850GLT non-turbo (130,000 miles). Chilton, Haynes, and Bay 13 do not provide any information about this code. I have found only a post or two in the archives and both seemed to indicate that this code was related to a bad ECU. Local dealer wants $800 to replace the sensor, and can't grantee that the light will go out. I hate to ask the dealer what an ECU costs, but if that is the issue, I think I can pick up a used one and switch it out myself.

Any information would be helpful.

Over a million Volvo miles and still smiling.
