Idling Problems 01 V70 T5 V70-XC70

Most people report the common brake booster seal failure as hearing hissing sound in the footwell area with no detectable difference in braking. So this probably isn't it.

Upper engine mount is the one that fails often. The dealer has a new design that is beefier for $75. Fairly easy DIY. I used Evolve's poly bushing and definitely felt more vibration. The car kind of loses the luxury ride feel.

On your surging issue at a stop, you might try a couple of things to get more symptoms. What is the surging symptom with

- geartronic in manual mode (in gear 1 at stop)
- auto mode (in gear 1 at stop if you have the tranny software with stop on neutral removed. With stop on neutral present, then it would be in neutral)
- you already know no surging if you are in neutral

Try these just to get more info. But is sounds like you might have tranny problems. If you do, the 3 cheap first step options are

1. flush with Mobil 3309 ($70 DIY)
2. get transmission software update ($75 at dealer)
3. Lubegard red bottle ($13)

New tranny software has the stop on neutral removed. Beyond this, it is pricier stuff which I've yet experienced (valve body, new tranny)

Hope this offer some pointers. My car is almost 94k miles. Here is a link of what I've encountered
