wiring trailer lights S60 2001

I'm a little slow, but I'm starting to understand what's going on here.

Draw-Tite makes a kit they call Modulite. It takes power for the trailer lights directly from the tow vehicle battery, rather than from the tow vehicle's light circuits. You still tap into the proper wirings, but only minimal current is drawn, and the module acts like a relay to send power to the correct trailer lights. The instructions (and wiring kit) suggest connecting directly to the tow vehicle battery with a supplied link and inline fuse holder (easy in an S60, since it's in the trunk!), or there's no reason someone couldn't use an existing spare power circuit for this purpose.

I'm guessing the Volvo harness does exactly the same thing, just for another 30 or 40 dollars.
