rear shocks/dampers 850 1996

hi!! got a 1996 model 855 and just noticed that one of the rear shock absorber/damper is leaking

i checked out prices, and have been told that on the estate/wagon models that ALL vehicles are fitted with self-levellers. These are mega expensive!!!

But surely not all fitted with this? I know on my old 745 it was an option, which mine had, and when a unit failed i converted the rear end to 'normal' dampers with uprated springs and it was much better - and cheaper too!!

The shocker on my 855 looks 'ordinary' - it's not genuine, it's a Boge 'Automatic' (i remember the self levellers on my 745 being a bit fatter and had a rubber bellows on them, not the case with these Boge's).

How do i tell? Can i tell??
