Does this thing have a tranny dipstick?!? V70-XC70 2001

So, my wife and I are diving from Atlanta to Orlando to visit her parents for the weekend after work last night... Kudos to Georgia DOT for one of the worst traffic SNAFUs I have seen. Spring Break, time of year when millions throng to the Sunshine State, the powers that be have decided to do road constuction on I-75 eighty miles from the Florida border, and have stepped down the lanes in a two mile period from 4 to 1!!! About thirty minutes into this two hour, two mile debacle at MIDNIGHT ( two and a half hours to clear ATL, but I expect that) the dash blazed orange as I was sleeping. Yes, lol, my wife was driving... I woke up and saw the Message center displaying TRANSMISSION SERVICE REQUIRED, the little orange warning symbol was displayed, and the CHECK ENGINE light was on! "Feel free to wake me anytime the dash is lit up like a Christmas Tree" I muttered nonchalantly as I could muster. "Oh, I didn't want to wake you..." OK. Checked the Owner's Manual, and warning codes SERVICE REQUIRED and and orange warning symbol both said car must be taken to VOLVO service center soon, not immediately. The book indicated CHECK ENGINE light indicated an emmissions system malfunction. We exited the freeway after finally clearing the mess and I proceeded to look for the transmission dipstick for five minutes under the balmy sodium lamp at the local McDonalds (PS after 11pm they do not serve the 10pc. McNugget, only the 6pc... go figure). Couldn't find it. Couldn't find reference to one in the handbook either only fluid capacity. PJ and I looked at each other, shrugged, and went on our way down to FL.
So here I am, in Orlando and my questions are this:
1. Has anyone had this happen?
2. Could this be a normal service reminder? The odometer was about to roll 100k when it happened.
3. Can anyone tell me the type of MOBIL fluid this auto transmission takes? I only remember 33 something... and my memory is shaky on that.
4. Did not notice a change in driveability, should I consider driving the car back to ATL Sunday? We both have work Monday morning.
5. Would the CHECK ENGINE light even be related. According to the manual it refers to a completely different system.
AND
6. DOES THIS THING ACTUALLY HAVE A DIPSTICK?!?
Some things worth mentioning are: Only bought this car 1,400 miles ago, so not too familiar with it,and service records do indicate O2 sensor has been changed a couple times, so it was my first inclination about the check engine light.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! -Gene
