shudder whilst cruising with AC on 850 1996

When cruising (not necessarily using cruise control) with my AC on i notice that car shudders once every 30 seconds or so - then recovers. Turning AC off seems to stop this problem. The air remains cool at all times so i know compressor is functioning always - i keep it at coolest setting 100% of time.

I hope its got nothing to do with serpentine belt/tensioners/fuel line?
