Ridiculously fragile dipstick handle V70-XC70 1998

I'm familiar with the whole broken dipstick issue on the 850/70s, and how anyone who snaps the handle has the pleasure of replacing both the dipstick and the tube. So I've always been a little more careful than necessary with the dipstick so as to avoid this problem.

Last night as I was checking the oil, I decided to checking out the condition of the dipstick o-ring (not removing it). I wiped off the oil around the ring with what I can confidently describe as "hardly any pressure." And, snap! Pretty sure I actually said out loud, "You have GOT to be kidding me." Anyone have success repairing these little suckers?
