Yes, Klaus is right! Also check the play in the accelerator wire spool. I have taken my son's skateboard bearing spray lubricant and lubricated the wire on the spool as well as the little arms that hold that thing in place to loosen up my accelerator. The thing will get a coating of rust on it too and won't freely move, so some type of lubricant may be the answer and act as a protectant at the same time.
