Advice for Aged Relatives V70-XC70 1998

We have some close relatives who are serious about buying a Volvo wagon - 850, V70, particularly interested in earlier Cross Country wagon.

Is there some problem with the early XC All Wheel Drive system? I have read that one ought never mismatch the tires on these cars. Have also read that many 98s have had electrical problems.

Are there any other issues to consider when looking at these cars? My wife and I will be accompanying them on a car-buying expedition next weekend.

Your help and advice will go a long way toward being able to make a good decision. Thanks,
