Coolant light intermittant 850 1996

I had my water pump replaced with my timing belt replacement in December at the 140,000 mark. When I brought the car in to get some brake work done, the mechanic (different from the guy who replaced the belt and pump) noticed the pump had failed. I brought it back to the guy who replaced the pump and he honored the part's warranty and replaced the pump, no change. It worked fine for a week or so and now everytime I accelerate from a stop or to pass, the coolant light comes on for the duration of the acceleration. Once I take my foot off the gas or the transmission shifts up, the light goes off. Is the new pump failing again?
