Oil in flame trap

I have a 93 850 with 145,000 miles on it. Every three months or so the car starts idling rough. I open up the flame trap and there is oil in the trap. Once clean, runs great. I am not loosing a considerable amount of oil between changes either, in fact it is rarely noticable.

I know that the engine recycles exhaust back through the flame trap and that the system does accumulate grime. Is it normal to get this much oil build-up. Anyone else have this problem? Does it indicate a bad gasket?

Thanks,
John
