Odo STILL not working with new gear! #$%@& !!! any ideas anyone?? 850 1994

well, after a few trials and tribulations, finally got the new gear installed (the old one WAS missing a tooth!), went to test drive it, and ..... NOT WORKING! Pulled dash top off again (i am getting good at this!) and rechecked everything. trip reset plunger was wedged so i freed that upon re-install but checked gears to see if everything looked o.k. seemed fine to me !?! carefully reinstalled instrument panel and test drove it with dash top off....

trip odo rolled up 1 tenth but seemingly took too long...then finally rolled to 2 tenths... and never went any farther. took at least a 5 mile, gas-wasting drive. (SRS light now stays on, even tho now i have reinstalled the driver side air bag...but i will deal with that later !)

open to any ideas, tests, checks --- whatever!
