Spring Seats 850 1996

"Well, the right front is now twisting with the steering (a little, not too bad). Is this a (somewhat) famed failed FCPGroton spring seat."

That doesn't sound like a failed spring seat to me. I'm assuming you got a front end alignment after doing the job.

I just changed my left and right front struts with Bielstein TCs and all FCP Groton components (spring seats and strut mounts). After tightening and then position tightening the lower strut mounting bolts and tightening the upper mounting bolts to spec., the front end is quiet and tight.

Check the torque setting and position tightening on the lower strut mounting bolts and double check the three upper mounting nuts and the center nut for correct torque value.

Those struts should not be moving at all.
