I had the same problem a while back (discovered when I needed to present the insurance information from the glove box). After much gentle prying I gave up and had the local shop near work fix the problem. I'm convinced they got it open by using "not so gentle" prying...and then replaced the parts tanker mentioned. Save yourself a few coins and use the not so gentle approach.
