98 S70 T5 Fuel Pump Failure? S70

Help! My car just died, but not suddenly so I am not sure if it is the fuel pump or not. I was going about 50 mph when I lost power. Had to pull over, and after waiting about 5 minutes I was able to get it started again for another hop of about 5 miles. Now it will not start, it acts like it's not getting gas. ANyone have any ideas of what it could be? I was thinking fuel pump but it was intermittent so that may not be the case???

I did notice that when I have been trying to start it- I can smell a sulphur like smell, like something with the catalytic converter???????? Not a good smell!

Here are the details
144,000 miles
changed fuel filter at 90k miles.

HELP@!

Thanks,
doug
