Yes a Toyota Prius. A car from a manufacturer that knows how to build quality, and a car that can be resold favorably.
My gas bill is reduced by over 60%, there is more usable passenger space, the taxpayers will provide me with a $3100 tax reduction, and I can drive in the carpool lane in CA, while killing the planet more slowly. Best of all, I could actually sell this car for a great price if I wanted, unlike the resale-impossible Volvo.
When every Volvo dealer tells you that the car unfortunately had a lot of problems, and that the market for S-80's is not so good, therefore he doesn't want another S80 on his lot, what do you do? Try and sell it on Ebay like all the other desperate souls, or trade it in for pennies on the dollar. When three Volvo dealers in California offered me $5,000 on a trade-in only if I bought another one of these gems, the dealers advised that $5,000 is all that a S80 will bring at auction, regardless of condition, and there are lots of them available.
Folks in CA are waiting in line 4-10 months to buy a Prius for $2,000 - $4,000 over retail. A very different world than trying to place a Volvo.
