Any suggestion on CD Changers ? V70-XC70

Just talked to the local dealer about the Volvo 10-disc CD changer. Costs $662 for the changer and including mounting hardware and everything $910. This is parts alone. Are there any other less costly options ? i.e Could I buy a factory stereo compatible CD changer and install it myself ? How easy would it be ? I inquired about the iPod adapter too at the dealer and that came to $200 parts(without iPod :) ). That seems more reasonable if DIYing. Any suggestions ?
