Did I make a mistake? S80

I just bought a 2000 S80 T6 black on black with 59,000 miles on it for my girlfriend. Car will replace her 1992 Volvo 240 that is getting pretty run down. The S80 is beautiful! Car needs brakes and has a small oil leak from what appears to be the oil drain hose for one of the turbos. I got the car for a steal at $5700. The ETM service was done at 49,000 miles. Transmission shifts fine. Everything works electrically.

How bad are these? Is it impossible for a DIY'er to keep one on the road without losing their shorts? Here are the trouble areas I have read on. Could people describe the problems they have had or other things to be afraid of?

Front ball joints. (easy fix)
Transmission. (anyone remedy this with frequent fluid changes or addition of a trans cooler?)
ETM. (covered by warranty)

After reading posts on here...it seems like I should just resell it now. Are they really THAT bad?

Thanks,
-Chad
