Auto transmission problems 850 1995

From what I have been able to gather about the Neutral Safety Switch problems on the 850, the symptoms can be many and varied.
The "normal" code for PNP switch problems seems to be 313 in the A1 socket.
But,,, there are other codes that can occur as well. Mine consistently shows 322 but maybe when I replace the switch, I will get another code. I did not get a "classic" flashing up arrow as a warning. My car simply stopped going into reverse,no warning. However, once I tried to drive it a little ways, I got the flashing arrow. Ratcheting the shift lever did nothing.
I'm pretty much convinced that my problem is the PNP switch and I've ordered a new one, $80 from Groton. The problem may be something else but I figure that if I get a new code, I'll fix that.
