Check engine light 850 1995

My check engine light has been on for several weeks now. I checked the codes and came up with the 2-4-1 code. I've cleared it several times but it keeps coming back. The weird thing is that I've taken a couple of long trips (@300 miles) with the AC running and the light has cut off towards the end of the trip, has stayed off for a day or so, then returned. Anybody have any thoughts about what's going on? I thought that once on, the light should stay on.
