It takes as long as it takes to tighten the nut holding the new arm onto the post. The post is grooved steel. The new wiper arm is aluminum. You place the new arm on the post, positioning it correctly (have the wipers in the parked position at the base of the windshield). Replace the nut and tighten it, and the post will cut the grooves into the arm as you tighten the nut. All done.
