A/C problem, probably common... 850

Hey all,

I'm taking the car into the shop tomorrow for a visit (serp belt), and I'm having an issue w/ the A/C, too, and the problem is something I'm sure someone has encountered. Since I bought the car 3 years ago (94 855T), the AC has only worked when set on "auto"..if I put it on LO or HI, it just blows air. Figured just a bad swith, not worth the $ to take off the dash, etc. Now, I've had this happen a few times...even w/ the AC on "auto", the AC will cut out. I turn it off and turn it back (the AC, not the car) and it works fine. I'm sure I'm on the road to a problem here. Someone help me out so I can gently "assist" my mechanic and tell him what the prob is and before he goes on a $$ fishing expedition w/ my car?
