Exhaust Manifold Replacement - how hard is it? 850

This topic is not commonly covered - I could not find much on it in Search.
The flex part (braided thing) of the exhaust has a hole and it is a part of the exhaust manifold. I went to a Meineke shop, they said they can weld a new flex piece for around $300. A new manifold kit is $270, and this is a more proper way to fix the problem.

So, how hard is it to replace it? I do just about any job on the car, but always stayed away from exhaust, thinking you can't do much there without some professional welding equipment.
