850 turbo blowoff valve 850

Over the past couple of months have noticed my 855 T5 running rough intermittently. Mainly when cold. have done all the standard maintenance items/ tune up etc. Often, blows small amount of blue smoke at startup, and while the exhaust looks clean while running, I can smell my Amsoil 0W30 burning. Compression is good all around. Car has about 210K miles.

Haven't done the PCV kit yet from Groton, but my local indy states that there is a problem with the blowoff valves on these cars at higher mileage. He states they get a pinhole in their diaphragm and oil leaks into the intake side and hense the oil smell. Apparently the part is available from Volvo for 200+ dollars and the install takes about two hours.

Has anyone done one of these valves? Must they be purchased through volvo or is there good quality aftermarket to be had. Difficult to do?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Perry
