I did actually bring the part in to the service counter where they gave me one of the "new" ones. I brought it out to my car in the parking lot and it didn't sit in very well so I asked a service person to come out and look at it. I was then told about the change of the part and needing the tube to go with it. It is a scam, I can't believe they changed it like that. I am going to go back and see about getting one for another year to see if it fits. What a pain for just a dip stick!
